Leisure Time Activities

During the time without conference program you can go on sightseeing in Cottbus, visit the art noveau theatre or make a tour to the environs.

Sightseeing-Tour:
A professional sightseeing tour can be organized, if enough people are interested. A guided tour by foot could last for example 2 h and cost between 3 and 10 DEM (depends on number of participants). You will visit the old market place, churches, the art noveau theatre, and other sights.
Spreewald:
Conference participants who come with their own car are recommended to visit the "Spreewald", a landscape near Cottbus. A possible destination could be Lübbenau, Burg (Spreewald) or Lübben. Here you can find several starting points for trips with flatbottomed boats.
Branitz Park with Castle:
In the center of the Branitz Park you can find the Castle with the marstall and the cavalierhouse. It is possible to visit these buildings and also the park forge. The castle contains lot of information about the life of Hermann Fürst von Pückler-Muskau, pictures and furnitures; the marstall a changing exhibition.
Lignite surface mining:
If there are enough interested persons, it will be possible to visit a location where surface mining is be done. In this case the tour will be organized in co-operation with the LAUBAG, which is the producing organization.
