COTTBUS

Cottbus is situated in the southern part of the Federal State Brandenburg, halfway between Berlin and Dresden, near the border to Poland. With about 120 000 inhabitants Cottbus is the second largest city of Brandenburg. The city is placed at a height of 68-69 m above sea-level.

Cottbus is twinned with several european cities:

The character of the city is determined by the side-by-side living of Germans and the Slavonic people of the Wends who have been living here for many centuries.

Shopping at the "Sprem"

Cottbus is also a popular starting point for trips to the scenic environs. Not far away, around the village Lübbenau, you can find the landscape called "Spreewald". Here the river Spree splits up in countless arms bordered by trees (beeches, birches, alders and ashes). You can discover this original nature by a flatbottomed boat across the labyrinth of waterways.
